I would suggest doing the Staff of the Wheel quest and turn it in to get the research components for Ice Comet. You can train your Research up at a trainer up to the max for your level. Unfortunately the combine of the research spell is non-tradable, so the only purchasable copies are dropped from Lady Vox (and not that frequently thank goodness).

Agreed, do the wheel quest. Wizard research really is easy. Even the "rare" runes can be easy to obtain if you're willing to farm em up! Good luck fellow Wozard!
