Default Returning from the days of Kunark-Luclin

Hey guys,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I was going to post some long, nostalgic memory from my childhood and about growing up in Norrath, but I figured I would skip it and just say hey. I mained druid on Tallon Zek server back in the day, and had a Ranger around 50ish as an alt. I don't have as much time to dedicate to playing and would really like to play a class that is easily able to find a group in a reasonable amount of time. I spent most of my time as druid just kiting alone out in the open, and even did that on the ranger too, but I never got to experience most of the areas in Norrath because of it. I would really like to focus more on group play and something that isn't terribly gear dependent in the beginning as I become more comfortable in Norrath (and in the pp department), and as much as the I would love to start out with an evil race, the difficulty of travel/merching is a pain in the beginning. I think I have settled on either a Human SK or a Barb Shaman (although this is also a pain for Halas spells, no money to start out stocked up). My cousin back in the day was a very proficient 60 Barb Shaman w/ epic, and I always enjoyed watching him play it. I have a problem with Alt-itis, but I really want to get comfortable with a class and the game again, and since it takes some time for the classes to flesh out, I'm trying to start right.

Open to suggestions, and any other nuggets the vets here can bestow on me. I was 10-13 when I first started, so my memories are more of the nostalgic, non-realistic variety, so my recall isn't the greatest being nearly 20 years removed. After setting the game up a few years back and playing to level 12 on the SK, I ran into some RL issues and took a step back. I hours yesterday reading the resources here, the wiki, and various youtube videos and never actually played [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Anyways, I'm either on Damnation (SK) or Utgardt (Shaman). If anyone would like to do some grouping, send me a tell! Or if you have an opinion on what class combo you would recommend for something that fits my bill, I'm not really set on anything just yet... preferably sooner rather than later [You must be logged in to view images. The SK might be more fun when grouping or (slowly) soloing. The Sham a bit of a slug to get going but good at 29 and amazing past 34. Solo or groups at that point are easy.

I’d prob focus on the Sham and gear the SK later on. It doesn’t need much to be fun but needs more than a caster. Hope you have fun [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]!

Shaman is a powerhouse at late levels and if you have a lot of plats. If you want a class that is easy to level early on and make easy money a bit later, try druid. Teleport money is easy to get if you put in the time. Mage is another newbie friendly class, the mage pet (from level 4 on) is pretty strong and in groups you can be one of the best DPS-classes.

Necro is pretty great as well, but you really should be an iksar for it... which you don't want (understandable). Enchanter and bard are pretty OP at every level but both are not very newbie friendly.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I've settled on the shaman. I've gotten to level 20 in the short time due to a few friends willing to lend a helping hand. Spruce and Soulpris have been helpful in that regard.

I've met a lot of cool people so far, and have been doing my best to pay it forward. Enjoying myself reliving a lot of old experiences and seeing some unfamiliar lands I never visited in my previous journey! If you see me running around send me a tell!
