![]() Apparently this feature is classic, not sure if you want to implement it on P99, but here are the facts.
Based on old screenshots, it appears NPC corpses should have their display name truncated to 14 characters and then append: 's corpse Spaces should count in the 14 characters. At this time I don't know if PC corpses should do the same or if 14 characters was the max length their name could be. Here are in era screenshots of long mob names truncated to 14 characters: https://web.archive.org/web/20020428...st/aug27.shtml Ikatiar the Venom is Ikatiar the Ve's corpse https://web.archive.org/web/20021216...kaarakDead.jpg Tukaarak the Warder is Tukaarak the W's corpse https://web.archive.org/web/20021216...shenCorpse.jpg Eashen of the Sky is Eashen of the 's corpse https://web.archive.org/web/20021216...HraashDead.jpg Hraashna the Warder is Hraashna the W's corpse https://web.archive.org/web/20020615...ews.php?nid=18 Derakor the Vindicator is Derakor the Vi's corpse https://web.archive.org/web/20030410...e/motgdead.jpg Master of the Guard is Master of the 's corpse Here is confirmation that this was still happening during Luclin: https://web.archive.org/web/20020510...chlichdead.jpg Arch Lich Rhag`Zadune is Arch Lich Rha's corpse For some reason this is only 13 display characters. I believe since there is that backwards apostrophe in his name there is a hidden prefix character in the database field, perhaps an apostrophe, which counts towards the display limit. Here are how corpses are displaying on P99 (makes for great screenshots, but not classic): http://i.imgur.com/3V0nWR4.jpg http://i.imgur.com/fKUkudi.jpg http://i.imgur.com/OnelfXk.jpg
