Do Pets Steal XP in Classic era?

Was not able to find this information but someone told me that it was not like this in a certain era, I was curious if anybody knows if it was a late era or early one? I never played a pet class until P99 , never back in the day. 51% dmg needed or just 1 point to keep full xp?

They will steal experience, the fact that they didn't here was an oversight from the titanium client.

Just duo up in the newbie yard, you don't even have to be fighting the same stuff

This is good at higher levels too. I've grouped in the bear pits before with 1 druid at upper and other at lower. Don't need to break pets for the killshots.
