![]() This was changed in the most recent patch (this is how it worked on classic at this point in time, a 'fix' for it will come about sometime in Velious).

![]() Can you verify this with a source?
I very clearly recall leveling a druid using root-dotting pre-Velious. I kept mobs snared so that when root broke I had time to re-root before they reached me. I can stand behind this 100% and know that it was prior to Velious being released. I know that both effects could stay on a mob at once.

![]() http://www.tski.co.jp/baldio/patch/20010109.html January '01. ~1month after Velious.
"Root-type spells and 'snare' type spells now use a separate spell effect. Previously, 'Root' spells would overwrite any snare effect upon the target. When the root would wear off, the target began moving at full speed. With this change, when root wears off, snare will still be in effect. This has a few added effects on the other end. For instance, root will no longer cancel SoW or Journeyman's Boots effects. It also allowed us to correct a long-standing bug that was allowing bards to cancel root on themselves by playing Selo's Accelerando if Selo's was in effect at the time that the bard was rooted. As mentioned in a previous patch where the first part of this bug was fixed, this was not the intended effect." BTW, if a dev reads this. Root should be overwriting SoW/Jboots & Selos (Although if a bard casts selos again they should be able to overwrite the root with selos).

![]() I see. I guess I am mistaken as to the timeline, then.
I could have sworn it was in the Kunark era that I began leveling up my druid since I did a lot of hunting in LOIO. Oh, well...what an annoying state of affairs. Here's looking forward to the Velious expansion! :P

![]() Selos never broke root. I wish it did... but it definitely didn't.

![]() Maybe not on this server, but the fact that the patch notes mention it being a way of breaking roots indicates that at some point in live it was possible to use selos to break root as long as you had selos on you when you were rooted.
