![]() So I played a bit yesterday after not having played since the charm nerf.
I was kind of surprised after all the negative press, but I was able to charm solo Karnor's quite effectively (entrance through RCY). Pre-nerf I'd be able to charm those things for ~10 minutes; now about 5 - but still more than enough to solo and dealing with a charm break or two is not that bad when you keep the other mob rooted. I haven't tried Chardok where the mobs are higher level, but for charm soloing you really don't need much duration. What is really obnoxious now is keeping a pet permacharmed in a group, since you have 2-3 times as many charm breaks. I finally gave up; my guy is now officially a poor wizard with great buffs, and about 50% less fun to play in groups now. Although its a hell of a lot easier to go AFK now [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Anyway, I would like to make a proposal which I am 100% sure will be ignored as not being classic. Since the charm system is already not classic at all (from what I have read charisma was almost worthless on classic, and I saw zero posts about how the new system is closer to classic), we might as well have a fun system. My suggestion is that every time a mob is charmed it loses a cumulative -10 MR. So charm soloing is basically unaffected, but in a group as you continue to recharm and recharm you gradually end up with a more malleable pet. I am sure this has 0 chance of being implemented, but I thought it was a cute idea. | ||

![]() Signed. So disheartening playing for days of playtime, only being level 53, and feeling like my character is dead.
I was in a KC basement group the other day, we had a shaman for slows and a bard was pulling/mezzing. This meant I got to stand up and refresh haste/C2 every 20 minutes. That's it. I nuked for a while but nuking for 5% gets old really fast. After an hour I basically went AFK and nobody noticed. 2 hours later I asked myself "why am I even levelling this character if it's not possible to have fun anymore?". There's nothing wrong with nerfing charm from how it was before. There is something wrong with completely murdering the skill and making it unusable in groups. Yes, I've figured out that I can still charm solo when I'm next to the zoneline too. That doesn't make being in groups any less boring nowadays. Current workaround: Use level 1 mez to tash/charm/re-charm, it only lasts like 15 seconds tops anyway which is plenty of time to tash and roll the dice on two charms before a break. I watched a level 58 enchanter with 250 CHA (Rilen) have four consecutive 15-second charms in Chardok the other day. Heartbreaking. This is like taking CH away from Clerics and telling them to spam Sup Heal. | ||

![]() I just feel bad for the people that didnt get to charm kill 2nd floor in CoM.
That shit was crazy good exp.. Too easy tho imo. But i got a nice slide down the hill thats for sure. Not including all the asshat necros using shadowbond when it was about as broken as it could be. | ||

![]() Well, if the Necromancers caused this nerf I don't see why the Enchanters have to suffer too.
I see no shortage of necros soloing all over Kunark. I don't even want to log in my ENC, as I'm sure many others also feel. | ||

![]() Our enchanter in Chardok was holding his charm for 10+ min at a pop. We did have a mage and shaman in the group so i am sure thier debuffs greatly effect charm duration. Charm can still be great, but maybe not as much solo.

![]() Unreliable is fine. Unusable is not.
I don't think anyone is asking for it to be changed back the way it was, but having 210 CHA should at least give me some sort of bonus against the spell breaking 10 seconds in after three repeated casts. | ||

![]() Once (if?) spell agro gets fixed Enchanters will be more fun because groups can pull huge pile of mobs for the enc to mez without fearing that they'll get insta-gibbed as soon as the MA wakes up a new mob.
