![]() I got my skill up to 68 with the large lanters, trivial now, the guides and recipes I have read say dairy spoons, and looks like filleting knives would work to but..... they don't. Trying each one I get the same message with each, "can't combine in this container type". Trying to get to 74 so I can start making banded armor, maybe those recipes were later than kunark, I don't know, or maybe I am supposed to use something other than a forge /shrug. Does anyone know of a recipe that does work and will get me to 74, that won't break me that is, I am still low level so I don't have a ton of money to throw away in attempts, won't care once I get to banded but until then... I guess i could go ahead and 'try' the lower level banded item, but im afraid I will fail everytime.
Any help/advice is greatly appreciated as always. Thank you in advance!

![]() i don't think they were added until velious (i think) when tradeskills were revamped and made more useful (shawl quests, more armour)

![]() Rahvin - That is the classic progression for smithing... however, those are not the trivials here on P99, so you can't skill up that way. In classic, banded didn't trivial until well into the 100's. Here on P99, the tradeskill revamp trivials are in place, so most banded requiring 1 sheet of metal trivials around 95, most requiring 2 sheets trivials around 105, and then tunics trivial at 115. Skewers, pots, and (I beleive, though I did not try) sewing kits trivial at <68 where lanterns trivial.
The progression here on 99 is basically sharpen weapons to the mid-20's, studs to 35 (if you're also playing in tailoring or know one who needs them), lanterns to 68, banded gorgets to 92, banded helms to 105, banded tunics to 115. The jump to banded has an initially large up front investment, though each success sells back to a vendor for just about the cost of the metal and mold, so it's not too bad.

![]() See, I read a classic blacksmithing guide that pretty much said the same thing for after 68, to make skewers, but when I tried it it was trivial so I cannot get any skill points for it. I'm not sure but it seems kinda broken to a certain extent, what I mean is that some of the old classic recipes seemed to be remade like the skewers(according to EQtraders) is trivial at 38, where as in old classic people made them into the 100's or at least until they could make banded.
The ones that I have tried and cannot make are the dairy spoons, filleting knife(think i will try the large targ shield next depending on the cost), and I haven't been able to turn the rusty weapons into ore either. Now for the ore and dairy spoon, I just figured that they were not in classic(the fillet knife seems like it should be though), but I know the skewers were according to what I have read anyway, it's just that they are trivial(to me at 68 anyway, and probably did around the 38 skill range). If anybody has leveled smithing and can remember what they did around skill 68 to level to start making banded it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

![]() doh, posted before I seen the reply's, wall of text fail lol, Ok thanks guys, that I was worried about, wasn't sure if I would fail everytime if I tried to make the banded gorget's because skill being too low at 68, will try it in game, thanks again everyone

![]() Malroth - if you're a caster, you're a caster (and have 100+ wis/int as a result) you should be ok as far as skillups and, subsequently, with success rate (though, when you start gorgets, you may fail about half the time). If you're a melee class, find a shaman and get their best strength buff. get your strength as high as you can before starting your combines.
