![]() Hi everyone, new player here. A friend and I started playing a few days ago and we decided to hang around for awhile, it's a really good server and we're looking forward to grouping with you all in the future. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. I've been searching and searching and I still can't find what I'm looking for so please forgive me if it's been covered. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] First, I remember someone telling me years and years ago that when you twinked your character from the beginning you would have a big advantage at higher levels verses a non-twinked character. What he said was, all the extra stats from lower levels would accumulate over the levels and so a twinked character would have lets say, much more mana than someone who didn't twink (with same gear at max level). Does that make sense? I guess what I'm asking is, if you do NOT twink, will your character be permanently gimped in the long run? Or, does the game measure your stat boost for each level on the BASE stats and not from the extra gear stats? Secondly, I'm going to start out with a Druid and I'm wondering if it really matters in the end what race I start out with (race benefits have always bugged me heh). Now, I realize that Wood Elves have some of the best starting stats but is there any reason why I shouldn't roll a Half Elf or Human Druid? In the end I'm sure the stats will be close but I thought I read something about how Wood Elves have an advantage in crafting? I just want to make sure I don't regret my choice in the end. Thanks all, I appreciate any input you guys can give. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

![]() Twinking or not Twinking are absolutely equal - stats are static across levels.
Well, as far as druid races, you have these main points to choose from: Wood elf + Halfling - virtual identical statwise, although Halflings level faster Half elf - kind of poor, since they have low wisdom, although Half elves do look pretty cool Human - average, negligible difference (although some of the power-gamers will probably overstate the difference, ::cough::Ennoia::cough:[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] between wood elf/halfling/human stats. The only stats that really matter are Wisdom and Stamina, and Stamina doesn't mean much (for druids). Honestly, choose whichever race you feel more comfortable with cosmetically and whichever race starts in an area you like more. Qeynos newbie area alone is worth half-elf or human race, although it's not terribly difficult to get to Qeynos from Rivervale. My personal choice would be halfling. 10% less leveling time to get to 60 [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Edit: Halflings also have sneak and hide. Those are also big +++ for being a halfling. Sneak is neat if you want to buy/sell from a vendor who is glowering at you, and hide is nice when you want to meditate afk and don't want to worry about invis fading (or wasting a spell slot on it).

Ok so, as far as Druid races go, there's no crafting advantage (or otherwise) with the Wood Elves then or?

![]() Twinking can in some ways hurt you at high lvls if you level so fast that your skills cannot keep up, but otherwise there is no effect other than it will just be easier for a twink to level quickly. Your stats always depend on your current gear and starting stats only, if when you get to lvl 60 you have the same gear as the guy who was twinked at lvl 1, you will be just as good.
I recently twinked a druid and I made a human so that I could use robe of the living fungus. The balanced stats on humans was also somewhat appealing as I wanted to be able to charm(cha) have a decent mana pool(wis) and decent hp for manastone (sta). I dumped all my stats into sta, but that is only because I have a manastone. Wisdom is the most common choice for starting stats even though it is not too hard to cap, b/c a large manapool is helpful for quad kiting. As mentioned above halflings get an xp bonus, however if you want to use your charm animal spells the halfling cha will really hurt.

![]() Good stuff guys, really appreciate it.
My beef is two-fold with Druid selection heh. First, I don't like the GF area at all. And second, I'm a tad superficial with my characters and looks matter to me. Halflings get some nice benefits but I just can't play the lil guys. Wood Elves are not bad looking but I don't want to start out in GF. As Messianic said, Half Elves look kind of cool and would be my choice BUT the Wis hit is a lot. Humans look ok but have the better starting stats between those two. So, unless there is some kind of crafting bonus with Wood Elves, I'm leaning towards going something else. I know I read a thread here where someone said they had chosen a Half Elf at creation and wish they had started as a Wood Elf because of something to do with crafting. I wish I could remember where that thread is but I've been researching this game/server for days now lol.

But give GF a shot - it might be worth the "newness" of the experience, and there are plenty of very good places to hunt on Faydwer after 10 or so [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Plus, Crushbone nearly always has newbie groups going on...

![]() Cha does nothing for druid charm anymore. Patch at the beginning of April changed this.
The halfling bonus is also only 5%.

Seriously though, no clue what you mean, sorry lol. Edit: Nevermind, got it. No offense there chief but if you have nothing to add to this thread the thread door is ---> Please let the adults talk now, kthxbai. I probably should have added that my Druid will be a little more melee based. The plan is to level up a couple of Druids to port alts around (not boxing, me and a friend as I stated earlier, I know the rules) later on as well as get some gear for them.
