Default Monks and AC and Weight Limits

Just noticed the patch, installed etc.

Is there a general rule as to "my monk should, should not wear this..."

Example, "I'll wear caster cloth at newb levels but not newb leather as it weighs too much"

Am I a moron with my low level monk running around in full leather, steel maces and carrying around 400 cp at 35+ weight? I guess I should stand at the bank and see for myself.

and finally...

what's the original developer's intent for monks and weight limit to ac penalties? Monks should be pious? Destroy copper all the time and/or be giving it away?

My friend has been leveling his monk non stop. He started with full wu's and a set of EBM's. Been destroying his copper and what not. He gets bags from shams or mages to stow his vendor trash. Converts his money to gems after groups and such. Lots of creativity to stay light as a monk I guess.

compare fist weapon weight to other weapon weight and i think you'll start to get an idea.

also keep in mind AC only matters when you're the one getting hit.

side note: recently i've been grouping with monks that will ask to turn auto split on. and this is in areas where basically all they're going to get is copper splits off mobs. i just don't understand.

Monks carry what they need. That was the intent during live eq in the RPG fashion.

I typically give my gold/copper/silver to group members, or newbies I run past. Even at lvl 60 I have to watch my fat monk.

You have to balance out what you desire your monk to be. A semi tank/dps? A tank? Or just pure dps.

If you are pure dps, you have the heavier weapons, a fatter monk, with lower ac.

If you want to tank, you have to pick and choose hps/ac over dps/bags of loot.

This is generally why all monks go for weightless bags off dragons/and Tinker Bags. So they can carry around stuff.

So in essence, yes you as a monk have to choose what you use.

It makes a big differance with your AC. And of course the lower your ac the more damage you will take.

When this really matters is if your tanking for your group (which believe it or not happens quite often), or soloing.

Even if your just pulling, you still make take some damage so its good to keep your AC at normal levels. And being overweight as a monk has a pretty big impact on your AC.

At low levels I dont think it really matters though
