Default Nektulos Bug?

When I zone or port into Nektulos Forest, I seem to be below ground level and cannot move. The strangest part is the graphics seem to be further along Omens of War or later style. Definately not the old blocky graphics I am used to here =). It actually might be a later Nek instance zone I am in. it's deserted and there is no zone out.

Anyway is there a corrupt download from a patch? I have downloaded this game a few times before on my older windows xp system with no problems (Titanium discs), the only difference is this is a windows 7 OS.

Any help would be appreciated

A lot of people have had issues getting into the old zones on Project 1999 it seems. The guide may not always be clear and there's a few files missing anyway.

Before attempting to zone into the following zones:
Nektulos
Lavastorm
Arena

You must delete the following files

nektulos.eqg
nektulos_EnvironmentEmitters.txt
nektulos.mp3
nektulos.zon
lavastorm.eqg
lavastorm.emt
lavastorm_EnvironmentEmitters.txt
lavastorm.mp3
arena.eqg
arena_EnvironmentEmitters.txt
arena.zon

MAKE SURE that you delete the right ones. NOT .s3d files for example. You also don't have to delete them you can just move them to another folder or rename them if you are sure you'll remember the old name to switch back.

As always it's highly recommended to make backups of files you change in Everquest clients.

Most likely you didn't follow the guide right.

After completing the Guide above, you must make a few modifications to your Everquest files. Navigate to your Everquest Titanium folder and move the following files out of the folder (Preferably create a new folder named "Backup" to put them in):
arena.eqg
arena_EnvironmentEmitters.txt
lavastorm.eqg
nektulos.eqg
Nektulos_EnvironmentEmitters.txt

Delete those files

There's actually more to it than that. only moving lavastorm.eqg for example with cause you to crash trying to zone in. lavastorm.emt is also required to be removed. also lavastorm.mp3 and nektulos.mp3 must be removed in order to hear the old midi instead of the new soundtrack however not taking them out will not crash you. the .zon files for lavastorm, nektulos and arena are also part of the new versions of the zone and can be removed, however i have seen no difference by taking them out or leaving them in.

Using the linked guide with longer list worked for me. They should mod the starting guide to reflect this.

I'm having the same issue, I moved all of the files into a backup folder and now all that happens is when I start up EverQuest the game crashes every time. Once I get to the server select screen everything is black except for the character select, it is hovering over a character that was in Nektulos before I fixed these files. After removing them it just crashes. I tried putting them back and it still crashes.

Can anyone help me please? I was transferring items for someone and they probably thing I stole them now [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.].

Server select is all black except for character select? Doesn't make sense...

At any rate send me a copy of dbg.txt next time you crash I'll see what's wrong
