![]() If you give thousands of platinum to a character named "Ponzi Scheme" to use for investments and then get ripped off, is it your fault?

![]() yeah he was banned months ago along with other accounts/characters that had nothing to do with it (mine) because im related
Back in the day I remember that it was always encouraged that you dont do anything stupid with your platinum (giving thousands of plat to a character named Ponzi Scheme to use to make yourself more money from ec trades)

![]() I got scammed when I was young when EQ first came out.
The person who did it was not banned, but that's only because he was a paying customer too. Here the GM's have the ability to ban at their own discretion / reprimand without fear of losing a paying customer.

![]() However-- I think when you get scammed it's at least partially your own fault.

![]() If you post a stilted question to passive-aggressively rage about your ban, is the latest ban still your fault?

![]() Old school EQ was scammer paradise. This gnome I knew on Fennin in '99 was a dirty little bastard. Trick people into letting him hold gear, try a weapon before he bought it, etc. and of course not give it back. Back when people were still naive and trusting ofc.
One that I almost got screwed on was when you could hot-swap items from the trade window still. Was buying a Paw of Oopalla (sp?) and the guy snuck a Split Paw in its place right before I was gonna hit trade. GM's didn't do shit for the longest time that I recall.

![]() Nothing is better than ice cream.
Getting scammed is better than nothing. Therefore, getting scammed is better than ice cream. I think the moral here is: don't invest any more than you're willing to lose. You could lose your entire investment even without it being a scam.
