Default Where are UI layout files stored?

I've just recently gotten around to switching EQ over to my SSD. However, once i copy pasted all of my eq files all of my ui settings, and general eq settings are back to default, this is kindof a pain in the ass since i have to reset them for all of my characters now. However if i set the path to my old drive and run it its all still there, so there are apparently some files i missed in the transfer, anyone have any idea where those are stored? Also the game reverted back to PoP elementals when i copied it to my SSD. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

EDIT: To clarify, when i say my ui settings i mean the position and filters for all of my chat windows, my key bindings etc. The actual UI i was using (duxa) still shows up.

What do you mean by layout files? Each UI window has its own internal layout (for buttons, icons, and info) that is located in the UIfiles folder (each window has its own XML file), but the positions of those windows on the screen is handled by the UI_CharacterName_project1999.ini files in the main EQ directory.

No doubt, I knew they were there but how can I use a different UI for a current character. Don't tell me how to do it in-game, I know, been playing ~13 years.

Unlike on Live, peq and/or P99 doesn't seem to have the same functionality or it's not as simple, unless I am mistaken.

Please correct me if I'm wrong and tell me how I can use a UI, layout, etc. from one toon on another. It's time-consuming to redo it for each toon when I have been using basically the same layout for a dozen years.

Thanks

I think if you browse to your /Everquest directory, you should see :

UI_playername_serverid.ini

towards the top, it will have UISkin= _________

Name that the same name as the UI folder that you want to use, and try it out.

You can copy a UI over. So if you set a UI up as Adrian then you'll find the following:

UI_Adrian_P99/Red99(whatever server).ini

Copy that file and change the name to your new character and just remember to delete the previous file of your newly create character. Also there is a second file that needs to be changed the same way, I can't remember it off hand since I'm not at my P99 PC but if you search the same folder look for the second file of Adrian and copy that to the new characters name.

If your EQ game was installed your program files you probably have a folder in your User profile folder labeled EQ that has everything.

Thanks everyone. Was tinkering around with it before work and got my old UI files to work on a newly installed Live version basically doing what you guys said, but I did it through trial and error. I can skip the last part (trial) for P99. Appreciated...

I had to mess around with it for a while but I figured it out. I now have a template for new toons with both .ini files. One is for window/bag placement/color (UI.name.ini) and the other seems to be for macros, hotbuttons, etc. (name.ini)

It would be nice to be able to load them from the game but what juhstin said is what I've done.

Thank you!

rezzing thread...

anyone have issue with trying to transfer UI files to new computer? I can find the correct files in the weird appdata folder because i installed EQ to program files. However, when I load up the appropriate toon on the new comp after copying files, the locations of the windows are all on top of each other. The UI skin is correct though.

Any ideas? Maybe just not possible due to different video settings or something.
