Default Trades should go into the log file.

I am an old man, and I should not care as much as I do.

However, because a person called me a scammer instead of saying "sorry bro I don't see it" before and after I paid him a second time, it put me in disgruntled mode.

Other than /split or the person receiving a money - trades and what they are accepted for should be a part of the log file.

Basically today I received a port, quickly traded 50p because I like to trade before the port happens in case of crash, then accept group and the port - say peace and get accused of not paying/scamming. I am down 50p for sure because I was watching my P before I got a CHA buff for vendoring.

Trade him the second 50p and notice I have no log of that either.

For sure am down 100p. Not naming or shaming this person at all but I do think we need logs on both ends so people cannot falsely be accused of scamming.

Whether or not the coin went into the nether, as does happen, I have no idea but if I had a log one way or the other I would bite the bullet.

Sounds like /split logs, which is good but not sure this happens enough to make it matter enough to do.

If someone is complaining because they think you didn't pay them after they already accepted the trade before, then that's their fault not yours. I wouldn't have given them the second 50pp.

Lol, I try to take care of people. I have a char in Dial, so I know how it goes and at 50+ it's really a drop in the bucket if you spend any time farming.

CSR has access to logs should there be a complaint made for an actual scam. The current system is improved of classic as there are atleast notations of items that get added to the trade window.

Displaying what gets dropped in the trade window in real time with a blue link is a huge step in eliminating scams.

Back on live the popular scam on my server (which I was both a victim and perpetrator of) was that you trade someone a fungi tunic in the trade window, and they put in their plat at whatever legitimate price they are trading for. Once they confirm you had the fungi in the trade window, put in their plat, and hit trade you "accidently" cancel the trade. After they put their plat back in the trade window you drop a cloth tunic in there and hit trade immediately. Once the trade is complete you log off while you wait for the heat to cool down.

On P99 the trade item indications help create more awareness at the time an item is dropped in the trade window, and even if fooled the CSR is a lot more involved in tracking down scammers so simply logging off wouldn't save you here.

Wow, that is really interesting.

I would never get CSR involved over minor plat but definitely over big time scams. Glad they put so much time into resolving things but yet another one of those things that makes you see why it is hard to keep people on CSR for long. I can imagine they are dealing with crap people do 24/7.

True, at the same time I think the knowledge of how involved they are is also a deterrent. I would never try something against the rules on P99 (scamming, ninja looting, kill stealing, ect.) because I would expect 100% of the time my account would get banned (as has been my experience with anyone I've seen blatantly operate against the server rules). On live it was more of a everyone else is doing it type of vibe, when you let things go people tend to push the boundaries. On P99 pushing the boundaries is basically limited to camp/raid disputes and even then staff is not shy about banning people if they believe the individual knew what they were doing was wrong.

Scammers never scam once. It ain’t about just 50pp.

I’ve scammed millions because people thought their individual victimhood was unimportant.

Definitely untrue by late 1999. As CSR on live I definitely remember punishments being handed out for scamming, etc. It took a little longer since you're dealing with hundreds of thousands of players (that's a lot of logs and petitions) across all servers rather than ~less than 1,000. But scammers were dealt with.

Yeah I didn't mean to imply that there were no punishments at all more that it was like a 1:100 ratio on live versus a 1:1 ratio here. It was very clear that the staff were outmanned and that you could get away with a lot. I did eat a 1 week ban after making ~$350k on the fungi scam (including my loss from being scammed up front that taught me the tactic). That's where the immediate camp out in the strategy came up, the only time I got confronted by CSR was when I didn't camp out and remained in game. When they were already under-resourced the chances of you getting in trouble if you weren't online when they reviewed the petition was extremely minimal.
