Have you set the compatibility of eqgame.exe to Windows XP SP2/3?

I started having this problem with the v58 patch and the solution to it was to set eqgame.exe to run in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode. I'm on Windows 10 Pro so it took me a bit of digging around to find out how to do that as it's not as streamlined as it was back in Windows 7 where you could just set it up in the properties of the shortcut on your desktop. In Windows 10 you have to do it via task manager, which just boggles the mind that who on earth at Microsoft thought making it like that would be a good idea. Well anyways, if alt-tabbing out of the game makes your game crash then you have to start it minimized, which can be set up through the properties of the shortcut aswell. In task manager, find eqgame.exe in the processes list and then mouse 2 click on it and select properties and the compatibliity mode settings tab should be visible there. You have to restart the game after that, however, as the setting doesn't come into effect before that.
