![]() The weird Fortnite graphics. Getting your best abilities before level 5 and using them the entire duration of your career (like Wizards getting Ice Comet at level 3). It comes off as more like WoW Classic than as an EQ clone honestly.
Which WoW classic was pretty EQ-esque, but nothing about Pantheon really gives me "Classic EQ vibes." At this point it really feels more like a WoW clone, where you'll still be using the same abilities or spells you learned at level 1 at max level. Like that's another thing that made EQ kind of neat. The way I played my Necromancer and Shaman varied dramatically as I leveled and had different spells available. I think it's the early 20s where Necromancers play more like Wizards than DoT casting fear kiters? Like most don't have their level 24 pet and their most efficient spell is a nuke. Giving players their high level spells at low levels, and having these cartoony graphics just comes across as more of a WoW classic clone than an EQ clone. Anyone else feel the same way? If you haven't watched the game play, please do me a favor and watch it and tell me that feels like EQ. Because to me it doesn't. And that's totally fine. I just don't like how they are marketing this as an EQ spinoff because to me it feels like a bad version of WoW in it's early days, and I'm failing to see any connections. Edit: The reason it's triggering is all my WoW friends know how much I love EQ and keep sending me videos of Pantheon expecting me to get excited, and are confused when I'm like no...? This is basically classic WoW at best? lol. Like it's even quest-based. In EQ you just adventure and level and quests are something that is special and rewarding that you aren't required to do, and most players won't do, but for those who do, it's usually worth it or has some niche reward like high exp, lore or faction etc. Apparently Pantheon is catering towards the WoW style of leveling where you do random pointless quest after quest in order to level. Again, I just don't see this as an EQ clone. I see it as a WoW clone? And BTW I actually have a friend who I got to try WoW and P99 and they called WoW a boring game where you do chores, but became quickly addicted to P99, despite the game being created before they were born. I'm completely okay with Pantheon being a WoW clone. Just like Rift or any other game. I'm not okay with it being marketed as an EQ clone when it has very little in common however. | ||
