Default Questions from a new player

Hello, I am new to EQ completely, and since I've been looking for a sort of open world fantasy ffa pvp game this emulator server caught my interest. What I was wondering is if a halfling druid is a good choice as a race/class. I've been doing some forum lurking, and read that rogue and warrior are basically impossible to solo, is that true? I figure since the pop seems pretty low that I'll prob be soloing a lot, but the issue is I don't want to play a druid if they're useless for groups due to there being so many of them apparently.

The way I imagine playing is just exploring the world and coming upon another player or group of players once and awhile to either team up with or fight, is that what the pvp is like? Or is it a bunch of asshats zerging griefing and cheating all day long as it seems it could be from a lot of the troll posts I've read on this forum.

Also a comment on the trolls whining about the server dying, are you guys that retarded to not realize that your posts probably ward off a lot of possible new players? Like myself, I'm pretty sure people do a bit of lurking before deciding to commit to a new game. Thanks in advance for any actual advice/sensible comments.

If your new, you better find a group of people to play with asap(The guild Velocity seems like your best choice) or else you'll just quit after a few days.

1. Ignore trolls, people are mad their guild isn't on top and want server to die. Community in-game is 100x better then these forums.

1. Play whatever class you want, fuck everyone else but picking a solo/group friendly class (Magician/Enchanter/Necromancer/Shaman/Druid) is probably a good idea for your first toon.

3. EQ is the best "open world, realistic pvp with consequences" I have ever played. I can't stand any other MMO's because they are so vastly inferior.

4. As soon as you log in your new toon /tell Bluecross for invite to newbie guild <Velocity> and I can answer all your questions in-game, probably level with you a bit and give you a pool of people to play with and talk to right away.

The server is fine.

The "community" is shit.

EQ pvp is completely open ended. It's everywhere at all times. The game is also equally as open.

Play what you want to play because at the end of the day you're not going to keep doing so unless you're enjoying yourself.

It's just my opinion, but the server will be goin strong again once they release planes/solro. Currently there's only two dragons then everyone logs off for the week. If they implement global ooc you may see more alts/people wanting to level up, but I'm not sure - going with the druid is a safe bet and useful for solo/groups.

On dragon nights it's usually 150-175 pop, if they add global ooc and content I would put money on 200+ for awhile.

Forum community is shit, aka Harrison and the other trolls - In game community is fine, it's just waiting on a patch.

There's about 100 reasons why 40% of the server quit. Most of these reasons were actually pretty damn small and its retarded that people gave up eq pvp over whatever reason they gave. Other's were legit like burn out from exp rates and blatant exploiting(Even throwing those exploits in GM's faces and having nothing be done). Most of these people are probably long gone and have no real hope to return.

The other 30-40% quit/barely play because the GM's have not showed any indication that they give 2 shits about anything. There's no real updates(Sorry Amelinda, at this point you don't count), no follow through, and no patches. Its very hard to justify spending time on character development when all signs indicate that the server is going to continue to dwindle down to a ghosttown. These people would probably start to come back if the GM's made any effort and population was percieved as rising.

The 20-30% that are left(Myself included) are still playing because even with the shitty situation, this server is still the best option available. I log in every other night or so and solely pvp(lvl 39 atm). I'm still able to find pvp with very little effort. As long as that is the case, I will continue to log in.

I wouldn't give a shit either after reading the forums - they're probably just holding off to see if there's a community to give a shit about, and it doesn't really look like it currently.

I would put money that it is more boredom than anything else. If there was stuff for the 50's to do, and global ooc for the lowbies to find groups you'd find people. I highly doubt people quit due to naggy being exploited a few times but w/e.
