The biggest difference between P99 and classic right now, at least in regards to the raiding scene, is that there is a spawn variance system here. That means that raid bosses have a spawn window in which they could pop at any point while inside of said window. Raid bosses also do not respawn on server resets.

P99 has a great community and the devs have a great team, so you should definitely give it a shot.

It is by far the closest thing available at the moment. And they are still working very hard on it.

P99 is not exactly like Everquest was in 1999, nor could it ever really hope to be. But it is as close to the original as humanly possible.

I'd say try it. It won't cost you anything but some time. If you enjoy it, it was well spent. If you don't, move on. There's nothing to lose and a lot of fun to gain.

Vanguard flop? Did the game die completely?

I loved that game.

Out of all the games since EQ I enjoyed VG the most, I went with the crowd to AoC though and never ended up going back!

This is as good as it gets so I say give it a go!

Great community (mostly), as close to 99 as you're going to find.

If you liked it then, you'll like it now. Even if it's just for the nostalgia.

Definitly give it a try! It has recaptured my addiction and rekindled my old memories as it has also grabbed my wife for the first time in her life and I get to see the game through her newbie eyes as well! Its a great server with a lot of great people running it and playing on it!

Vanguard still had a pretty good base of customers. I played it and raided for a few months but due to work and school, I didn't have time to do it every night.
