Miscellaneous: XP Bug or Bad Memory?

Good afternoon folks,
I am just getting into playing EQ again and I have a question. I remember that it was much harder to level than any of the current MMOs out there but it seems much more difficult than I remember. I got from level 1 to level 2 in a resonable amount of time; however I am having a rough time getting from level 2 to level 3. So far I have killed approx 35-40 mobs and have only gained about 40% exp. Is this the way it was in Vanilla? 100+ mobs to get from level 2 to level 3 seems higher than I remember. Then again I have not played in many many years.

I am mainly sticking to decaying skeletons and gnoll pups in Qeynos so most are blue to me right now. Anyways I will leave it at that. I am sorry for wasting your time if this is the way it was.

What you are describing sounds more like level 3-4 than 2-3.

What class/race are you?
I'm guessing human since you're in qeynos but are you playing a hybrid? Because hybrids do have a penalty on this server.
Have you tried killing even con mobs yet? At level 2 you should at least be giving it a shot.

Usually it's level 3 that people joke about being the first "hell level" when still blue level 1 mobs give almost no xp. I don't see anywhere that you posted the class you're playing and I'm not real familiar with qeynos newbie area but I'd try to find some higher level stuff, like white or yellow cons. Even untwinked, most classes can solo higher con mobs at those levels.

Levels 2 and 3 are probably the worst in the game.

I am playing a Half-Elf Bard. I will try and kill a few more fire beetles and other even con mobs and see if that helps. Thanks for the quick replies. Appreciate it.
