Honest question: What's stopping you Red99 fanatics from just turning in your Tome of Order and Discord today and PvPing on the original server?

I've thought about this a bit and only really came up with two ideas.
1) Clean start
2) So you can "fight" over camps and spawns

1) Do you think there will be any fewer cheaters on Red99 than there is here? From everything I've been reading cheating is more prevalent on PvP servers than anywhere else. If this server is going to be administered by the same people running Blue99 are you actually expecting different results?

2) Is there actually going to be enough people to even compete for spawns on Red99? If you had similar prime-time numbers to Blue99 sure, but I'm thinking you won't.

Why not just turn in your books and duke it out now, as-is? Just a little tired of the same 15 people on the forums only ever having Red99 related material flying out of their pie-holes.

Don't think there will be the numbers. Blue99 is what, 3 years old with 800 primetime? Red99 going to be a ghost town. If there's enough consistent players to foster two high-end guilds having enough people on around the clock to fight over spawns like Trakanon...I'll eat my Runed Cowl.

All Hail Demetrium the Blue Prophet.

Handing in the PoD book on a blue server still makes you blue. One of the biggest reasons to play on red is to contest spawns, whether it be orc trainer hill, BnB, Naggy etc. That simply cannot happen with 80% of the population remaining blue on the blue server. Nice try though!

Red99 will not be a ghost town, that is a laughable, desperate assumption from someone that sounds afraid of losing members from the blue server. Classic EQ only requires 200-300 players to make the zones feel fairly populated. I would be more than happy to see those numbers in a month or two, but if Rogean and Nilbog can get a thumb on detecting mq2/seq again before release, I will assure you that it will grow higher.

This is a chance for all you blue players to experience a completely new style of EQ gameplay. Most of us are reliving the exact same experience as we did in 1999-2001, why not relive that experience you loved with a new dynamic thrown in? No more poop socking and "LOLOL WE GOT TRAK THIS WEEK" threads, instead, you faceroll the competition, get the loots, shake hands and meet again the next week for more.

Why you so mad at red brew? There is well over 15 people being vocal for a red server, and countless more that don't come to this forum and/or aren't vocal about it. Obviously this is the case if Rogean and Nil. are working on a red server, don't you think? I mean, are you calling them idiots to say that they are making this server just for it to be a flop? They managed P99 just fine, what makes you think they'll fuck up R99?

And I had gone so long without hearing "you mad?"; am I on the wrong tab surfing the WoW forums on accident?

I'm a 55 unguilded Necro, I couldn't care less about how many people are around. I have a bunch of friends from Live here and I can group with them when I feel like it. I'm only around here until Diablo 3 launches anyway; this is a stop-gap for me. I'm having fun exploring the rest of the game I missed the first time around.

200-300 players at prime? I think you're grasping at straws. 200-300 at prime means 50-150 non-prime. Guess how many contested spawns have spawntime variance? Your hypothetical competition is going to exist only on small camps if at all. Even then, are you really so exited over this?

Like I said above I'm pretty sure you're being delusional. The game isn't built for PvP. You can argue balance until you're blue in the face but the engine just isn't built for it. I'm sure there's niche players like yourself who enjoy it, and that's great...you're just a minority. If you're so competitive why not play something relevant? Are you planning on running around town shouting that you pwned someone in an emulation of a 12 year old game?

Squeakiest wheel gets the grease. You guys are like the libertarian party. You make a lot of noise but you'll never get someone elected. Also, don't straw-man me, broseph. I never called Rogean or Nil idiots, nor did I say they would "fuck up R99".

P99 is 2 years old..
and the 800? thats current players, id say at least that amount has alrdy stopped playing by now and theres still people coming in.
the population seems to be a revolving door at this point.. as someone mentioned before, their seems to be as many people leaving as their is coming in.

That being said, i think Red99 will regain some of the players that left (who want a fresh start) and attract those watching server updates from other forums around the net.
pvp servers are always lower in pop then their blue counterparts, but it should stabalize with a decent amount after initial launch.
(ALOT more then the 12 here you recognize from the forums)

Honest answer, yes, we want to compete for spawns on equal terms, not be a hopeless minority that can never compete for contested spawns against blues and their vastly greater numbers.

So far over 400 blue players have been suspended or permanently banned in the last 7 days for hacking. At its height I don't think VZTZ had much over 200 players at prime time, which would probably indicate around 400 players in a 24 hour cycle. So unless you are suggesting that ALL PvPers are hackers, then I would say no, we have fewer cheaters than P99.

We had massive warfare over spawns with a fraction of R99's population so the obvious answer is yes. I expect that Red 99 will have approximately double the population VZTZ had at its height due to P99's reputation.[/QUOTE]

There's a good way to shut those pie-holes up. Stop being a bunch of hacking scumbags and having constant drama so the devs can focus on Velious and launching the PVP server. Once we have a server to play on it will be crickets chirping in here.
