Hey guys and gals. I just started on red99 last weekend. I'm currently leveling a shaman but my first EQ PvP experience was with an enchanter so I'm contemplating switching or at least rolling an alt. One thing I wondered however is how charm works on this server. When Tallon Zek first launched you could charm players. The duration was much shorter than charming npcs but it was possible. I get the impression we're going for a somewhat purist approach to this pvp server so I was wondering if we're going launch purity with this enabled or if we were going the somewhat gimpier post launch purity when this was taken away from enchanters.
This is a very important question which will shape the course of my serious EQEmu Red99 life!

Heartbrand I seriously think you need to learn some EQ timeline regarding changes

I get that it was removed rather early, but it never went live here, much like egg-shaped pumice, and recharging was removed as well, all because they were considered OP despite being classic

Well that's also stupid so whatever
Recharging is a bug and has no place ever. Tell me more about how people were using it on their first raids to clear content.

are lifetaps unresistable? I think I remember this being the case during live. I know this isnt for enchanters but just curious since I saw fear does not work.

edit: It all goes back to the, what does "classic" mean to people. To me it's about reliving the classic content, not necessarily reliving a clunky, inefficient u.i., with missing features that don't affect gameplay but pure accessibility, i.e., the guild manager ability. I don't go, "o man I love that we can't see who is in our guild this shit is fucking awesome and classic," I go "o man can't believe they didn't have this shit back then wtf this is gay." On the other hand we dislike GAMEPLAY changes like soulbinders, pok books, mercs, recommended level items, safe zones, etc., etc, because that takes away from the classic experience of an interdependent world where risk v reward existed and dying stung.
