October 25, 1999: Jiae Soulmender sent in a beautifully written quest description for the new Paladin Holy Sword, The Holy Partisan of Underfoot. Unlike the Fiery Avenger quest, which I was pretty sure right from the start was a hoax, for a variety of reasons I believe this is accurate. Because it is so long and involves a very nicely done quest [Verant is defintely getting better at the quests] that many might want to solve on their own, I have put the starting description under Butcherblock quests, and posted the full description separately. I also agree with his speculation that there is may very well be more to it and a better reward in the end.

As I was exploring the area around the Kaladim docks i happened upon an exiled paladin on the outside of the dock walls (when taking the path towards the docks from Kaladim take a right as you hit the dock walls and follow it around). I hailed him and he said something about failing Lord Nightseer(Dwarf Paladin guild leader) and getting thrown out of kaladim by losing the Chalice of Bravery in the Rathe Mountains to a Band of orcs. He then gave me the case that holds the Chalice of Bravery and told me to Get the Candle of Bravery(Also Located in the Rathe Mountains) and Chalice of Bravery and then combine them in the Case and bring the case to Lord Nightseer. He would then be able to come back to Kaladim. This quest sounds very hard as the Rathe mountains are very hard. I came here to look if anyone had put up this quest but I guess not. It might be one they just added with the new patch.

I First recieved this quest from the head cleric in kaladim. She asked for 4 fairy dust. I returned the fairy dust and obtained a small bag of Soil of underfoot. A no drop lore item... I have not found any other use for this item and would appreciate more info if possible!

This is part of the quest for the armor of Ro, though I have not seen anyone who can make it yet.
It is one of many ingredients that you must get before you can make this new and coveted armor. Hope this helps.

The soil of the Underfoot is used for a quest given by the fallen paldin. He can be found to the right of the dock entrance. It is a long and drawn out quest, but somewhere during this ordeal the soil of the underfoot is needed. In other words, by itself it is useless, but is necessary for more complicated quests.

It seems the soil was initially misspelled:

We see the same misspelling appear sequentially with a number of other items known to be added in Oct1999.
I think only the quest prompt, "And may your soles long for the [Soil of Underfoot]," and the fairy dust turn-in to Priestess Ghalea would need flagged.

From Vaslin's Compendium v2.4.0:
Quote:
You say, 'What soil of underfoot?'
Amiable or less: Priestess Ghalea says 'The Clerics of Underfoot have yet to see your faith directed towards our wills. Perhaps you should assist Master Gunlok Jure in the crusade against the undead.
Kindly or better: Priestess Ghalea says 'I can trust you with the Soil of Underfoot, but first you must obtain four portions of Fairy Dust. Return them to me and I shall mix it and pray over it, then I shall give you a pouch of Soil of Underfoot
|
I created a Level 1 Agnostic Dwarf Warrior. I con'd amiable to Priestess Ghalea and received the kindly response when I asked her about the soil.

This should be a Pally quest given by the Pally guild master in my opinion.
To complete this quest you MUST be higher then amiable. If you try turning in the fairy dust to Priestess Ghalea without being higher you will receive the dust back and be told that "the clerics of Underfoot have yet to see your faith directed toward our wills. Perhaps you should assist Master Gunlock of Jure in the crusade of the undead."
I finally turned in enough bone chips to Gunlock Jure to con warmly. I was reading where high amiable is good enough to complete the quest.
I believe that the faction of higher then amiable should be noted in the quest somewhere so others will know in advance if they are starting this quest.

The quest write-up notes a high amiable requirement, but +451 would be kindly according to
this post. The comment from nerina819 indicates that higher than amiable is required and shows that as of 2020 players are still directed to Gunlok Jure if they have insufficient faction, as Vaslin's Compendium indicates.
This thread notes the quest does in fact require kindly to complete, so this may just need a faction/dialogue flag.
