Default Cleric Starter Weapon

I just started a cleric and was donated 300p to help my journey.

I'll be putting this towards spells and hopefully a cheap weapon to solo the first 10-20 levels.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good newbie cleric weapon with high dmg? slow delay? if any exist lol.

Not sure how high of damage you're looking for but a Bloodforge Hammer is a very easy quest for a non-evil cleric. Wiki says level 10 but the guy you need to kill is a single pull level 5 wimp with a filthy mouth

If you're feeling lucky you can head over to Kithicor and see if one of these is rotting, which does occur from time to time:

What I did was camp Dyllin for the Testament of Vanear (great quest you should do in your 20s, soloable) and asked some people in kith give me a heads up when a star dropped.

If you're dead set on buying a weapon a http://wiki.project1999.com/Sharkbone_Warhammer or like item should fit the bill nicely, a http://wiki.project1999.com/Smoldering_Brand would do more damage but tbh you'll get more mileage out of something with wisdom on it for when you eventually outgrow melee.

Good luck!

honestly...buy a port to EC (/who dial) and beg for a couple hours in the tunnel. you'll wind up with plenty of stuff folks don't want anymore and be good to go.

otherwise, i'd just go to CB and do the screaming mace quest. you won't be able to solo stuff and while you're grped your weapon won't really matter much.

I'd use the plat to buy a set of banded and bank the rest for spells. As a cleric, from level 9 on you'll be sitting on your butt so much you won't even get a chance to use a weapon.

feel dumb for not suggesting this myself

TBH fastboy's right on too, I doubt it would take very long to get hooked up with some polite tunnel begging. P99 loves newbs.

Yah, I don't mean begging to be obnoxious here (although I always thought it was on live)...folks on p99 regularly vendor, drop, delete items that you would want and they would rather give to a genuine new player.

The banded idea is a good traditional path if you want to play without anyone's help. I also like CB because you can collect the belts and get armor rewards (and exp) from Kanlo in Kaladim. You'll be wearing gear in no time.

Cult had great suggestions.

The above club would probably be handed to you for free if you had the stones to run into City of Mist during prime time and gated out. Honestly though, if I had a new cleric I'd go with the banded armor suggestion.

Tons of higher level characters have taken up smithing for the prayer shawl but can't be bothered to click the button to make sets. I don't blame them. If you bought all of the mats for the size you wanted and walked into North Freeport during busy hours I know for certain a high level player at the bank would take a moment out to combine them probably.

Above is the classic quest mace I obtained pre Kunark on old retail. A level 1 human cleric can do it, oddly enough (I was a halfling at the time and used a human cleric mule).
