Spells: Lyssa's Cataloging Libretto

When trying to identify items using said song, I have the item on my cursor and still receive the message that I must "first select a target for this skill". I cannot find a way to make the song work, regardless of what item I am trying to identify or where I put it. I also did a search to see if this bug has been submitted already and didnt find anything so hopefully this is a new issue.
