Default Enchanter Pets Not Dual Wielding After Level 29+

Everything I have read from classic, and remember, had enchanter pets able to dual wield from level 29 and on. This is basically a huge loss of dps for our pet if choosing to give it a weapon to dual wield.

Will this be changed in the future? I as a enchanter use my pet all the time, and every spell level have been giving it a weapon to see if it will finally dual wield, but to no avail.

I am positive this is something that was in classic, and I am hoping that one day it gets implemented. This would be akin to rogues not able to dual wield, and having to use only 1 weapon. The pet is a primary source of DPS for many enchanters, and something this important I would hope is not overlooked.

I looked this up because I wasn't able to find proof that it was classic. I know it was doable at some point,
I would not mind this getting looked at!

I don't have any proof one way or the other. But I do have a strong memory of enchanter pets not dual wielding in classic. The 2 handed sword + Shield combo is all I remember from high level enchanters.

I thought dual wielding was Kunark for enchanter pets.

This old Everlore page has talk of the dual-wielding pets starting at 29. It's not empirical proof or anything, but it's something.

Your memory is wrong. The 29 enchanter pet was able to dualwield. Just that most enchanters didnt use it since it broke mez and could not command it.

Also remember that some 2 hander weapon models look like 1 handers and some 1hand weapon models look like 2 handers. Ghoulsbane looking like a 2 hander and the Blackened Iron Bastard Sword looks like a 1 hander. Likewise An Electrum Bladed Wak (1 hander) looks like the Katana of Steel Sleet (2 hander).

Hope this helps.

The enchanter pet was always able to accept any weapon you gave it, and use it. Here they do not use anything other than what they are created with. I always used my enchatner pet on live and it DID duel wield at 29 and beyond. It allso should be able to use what ever weapon I give it, like a Dagger of Dropping or even rusty weapons.
It is suppose to use what ever weapon you give it. Even if it is not high enough lvl to duel wield. It will just replace the weapon it was spawned with. I have tried many times to get my pet to use different weapons with all the pets from lvl 1 to the lvl 29 pet and none of them will use anything I give them. They are suppose to use any weapon you give it just like any of the other pets.
Also, the enchanter pet breaking mez WAS fixed some time after Kunark was released as well.

I remember giving my level 1 pet a rusty dagger and a parrying dagger to make it look like it was dual wielding <3

while i was playing around in grobb tonight charming guards. i figured out why we cant make the ench pet dual wield, dunno if devs know about it or not.... or at least think i have figured it out heh.

so all the guards in grobb have a longsword and shield. now when charming i obviously wanna make him dual wield, however if i give him weps, they wont replace what weps he is currently holding... so even if i give him 2 weps it will still just hold sword and shield.

now cause the ench pet has sword and shield alrdy, when we give them weps, nothing happens. however mage/necro pets will take them cause they start with no weps.

i havent been able to test further with necro/mage pets to see if their weps change if they are alrdy holding weps.. (can be done just using different types, ie.. pet has 2 swords, change to 2 maces or whatever)

shrug just thought i'd share... i really would like my summoned pet to dual wield.

on live, i know for certain the newest weps would always replace the old weps, so if ya can fix that then our pet should be auto fixed.
