this what wiki sez:
Dual Wielding

In classic, pets must be given two 1H weapons in order to dual wield. This was not the case on early p1999 but was recently fixed. Thus, until approximately October 2011 (as per the live timeline), no pets innately dual wield, regardless of level (ref). It's recommended you ask your local mage for two summoned weapons.

Increasing Pet Damage w/ Weapons

"Pet damage increases if high enough damage weapons are equipped." Oct 23 2011 Patch.

In general this means that if a weapons damage is greater than the pets innate damage, the pets maximum hit will increase. This maximum hit likely (?) follows the standard damage tables by level. For instance, capped at 20 for a DMG: 10 weapon at low levels.
per this link: http://wiki.project1999.org/index.ph...neral_Pet_Info

if i read this right it means after an oct '11 patch pets will dual wield w/o two weaps. but that high damage weaps will increase dps. that means pets "can" use weaps.

this guide generalizes all pets though. is it thought that shaman pets are different and will not wield weaps?

someone give a sham pet a low level proc'ing weap and see for sure?

Does this mean that shaman pets can never get 4 attacks in a round?

Correct. Shaman pets couldn't dual wield, but they used to actually be able to proc weapons, which was hilarious. Saw some shaman soloing junk with a gnoll-hide lariat stun-proccing pet.

Now they don't utilize the weapons they're given AND don't dual wield (as they always haven't).
