Default UO Emulator?

Seems like I've had the most fun playing emulators. Unfortunately even tho I was old enough when UO was out my family didn't have a computer back then.

Anyone who knows UO really well able to help me determine if there is a legit UO Classic Emulator Server?

Seems like that game is as hardcore as EQ was back in the day with item loss, hardcore mode, PvP, etc.

(Sullon Zek player in EQ but I play blue here)

edit1: So far the best I've found (with my unknowing self) http://www.uosecondage.com/ which has a mission statement not unlike p99s. But I have no idea what any of that UO talk means. What is t2a and why is it considered great. I don't know when UO started to wane into the more casual realm.. its like if I joined p99 today I wouldn't know why LDoN is bad and RoK + SoV is badass.

EQ is a skip through the daises while holding your mother's hand when compared to UO. lol. while my younger self was quite resilient and bounced back, I dont think my adult psyche can handle that today :P

Oh yeah, I wrote my post quickly but I didn't mean to say they were on the same level.

I would even say EQ is easier than Diablo 2HC mode which I played a lot, and I felt that D2HC wasn't that bad honestly if you avoided open rooms and TPPKers.

Without trying to compare the two I'm just saying I enjoy a challenge and would really like to experiment with it.

www.uosecondage.com very legit ultima online emulated server- it's era based (the secondage expansion) Very fun era imho. While not the beta/classic era you're requesting it's closest to that era You can find- server has been running for 5 years going on 6 now.

http://www.uosecondage.com/

is what I've played on. They strived to keep everything as classic as possible but its got razor macroing built-in. All the AFK macroing and macro-assisted pvp isn't really like the good old days of UO, but its still pretty fun.

t2a is the first xpac of the game that added a second land without player housing in every square corner and a few interesting mounts, mobs, and places to hunt. The game was at its best during t2a imo. Well before the skull f*cking of everything the game stood for.

sorry missed ur edit- Secondage era- Insta weapon hit, weapon timer cycling, full loot, original house type placement, house looting, boat looting, just looting in general. Many aspects of the game were ruined with later expansions as they made it more "carebear" this era was relentless and it took no prisoners. Thiefs could steal from you freely outside of town and could sometimes even get away with it in guarded areas. People could kill you freely outside of town regardless of your status (new, guilded, blue/grey/gree/orange/red [these are colors that players/npcs show up as depending on the situation]) but murdering did have it's down fall- after 5 short terms the player would fall into stat loss, meaning if they died they had to wait until they were under 4 short term murders in order to rez without taking stat loss (-10% to all skills and stats) short terms fade at 8hrs per short (in game time).

there is so much to really go into, I suggest you look at the wiki it has lots of info. make a character and I'll give ya some cash to get started. The community is very helpful there as well.

Good luck

I recently started playing the UOForever server it's basically UO Renaissance server. Pretty standard to how UO was originally before expansions. There is some small custom stuff that wasn't in UO:R however. Just google it for the webpage and see how you enjoy it.

I was a Froob in all my time during UO, think I played during the Shadowlands Exp (is that the name of it?) Idk, UO was so awesome to me as a kid, but even at a naive mindset relative to MMOs I knew there was a lot of UO I didnt get.. plus being Froob handcuffed you. Couldnt use top-tier items, so PvP was obviously laughable.
