Default Why is 2 boxing against the rules but PLing is allowed?

I am pretty new to this server, and have started a couple characters recently. I really like the fact that there is no 2 boxing allowed here, and agree completely with the idea that it has a negative impact on the community. One thing that has been really bothering me is the way that PLers conduct themselves in newbie zones. Where i get confused is when i see PLers take entire newbie zones to level up their paying customers. I really have a hard time understanding how this type of activity doesn't have the exact same negative implications on the servers community and player base as 2 boxing would.

A level 60 druid pulling the entire zone for their customer or friend has a far more significant impact than a boxed duo ever could in these zones. The only difference is that there are two people playing when PLing is going on, meanwhile an entire group or more of newbies is left with nothing to kill and a really bad taste in their mouths about this servers community.

The big issue for power leveling is that there is one thing all PLers desire: Zones with nice fat ZEMs, and tons of mid level mobs with as few healer mobs as possible.

1. ) Unrest
2. ) Mistmoore
3. ) Kurns

3 zones, and the same features that attracts them to legit mid level groups looking for xp.... attracts power levelers. Big ZEMs, tons of mobs, and few to no healing mobs.

Nothing will ever change it. It's been a giant pain in the tail for over 2 years. The reason people leave Runnyeye and Splitpaw and Permafrost alone and flock to the other 3 to either level legit or powerlevel is what i stated above.

It doesn't really have anything to do with 2boxing, though. 2 boxing is against the rules because the powers at be don't want it. And with the relatively healthy server population the server doesn't terribly *need* it. Yeah it's more convenient in off peak hours to two-box instead of trying to form a group, but there is another 20 servers on the emu list you scroll past that *allow* it you can easily pick from. You want classic eq? Gotta play by the rules at hand.

And I say that having played on an older EMU that used to be classic/kunark and allowed 3-boxing. it had a horrendously low population, but only needing 2-3 people to bang out a group of 6 and take down guk or sol b or city of mist or karnors, etc was quite fun. But i never met the sheer amount of cool people over there than i did over here on p99 where i was pretty much forced into duoing and grouping. It all works out in the end. I agree, but it is just one of those double standards. I'd rather have one be outlawed than both be legal. Its the min maxers that are ruining this server. What are you gonna do?

The classic experience was like this also, except boxing was allowed. Count your blessings.

PLers have alot of options, so does newbies. But all should choose the best ratio between time and xp, and not ZEMs aka Bonus xp zone which means shit if you get no mobs to kill. Your best bet for best ratio is constant have mobs, and not ZEM, as a ZEM zone is always crowded.

ps: overcamp a zone by the same person is against rules, you may petiton it.

This I had not heard befor. So when someone is pulling an entire zone to PL a GM will step in and make them stop if petitioned?

I am new here, but according to this post about camp rules, once you have a group ready to make a presence for a particular camp, you can claim or work out with the PL'er which camp to take. I've also seen plenty of posts in the rules about "don't be a douche" too so in effect, yes you could petition a GM if they do not work with your group.

Edit: It is probably a good idea to have proof via video and screen shots if you want to petition a GM. Considering these guys are doing this out of the goodness of their hearts (god bless them) it'll be smart to be as thorough as possible to avoid the wastage of time.

There are just certain classic aspects that you cannot help. In a dungeon that has very few set camps it would be difficult to oust a power leveling group. Outdoor zones have the same problem with bards swarm kiting. My suggestion would be to play off the beaten path in the less popular zones. Maybe you'll find it a more rewarding and classic experience.
