Default Possible to clean up some sticky's here?

Seems like it's getting just a little crowded, may be a good idea to at least take out a couple of these. as of right now we have this:

Sticky: Help! My EQ won't work! -The FAQ, please read.

Sticky: Updating the UI - A walkthrough with pictures. ( 1 2 3 ... Last Page)

Sticky: EQEmuLauncher - FAQ ( 1 2 3)

Sticky: Crashing while zoning ( 1 2 3 ... Last Page)

Sticky: Make EQ Look Significantly Better Graphically. ( 1 2 3 ... Last Page)

Sticky: Crowdsourcing .path files (community project) ( 1 2)

Sticky: Duxa's All In One Installer Tool ( 1 2 3 ... Last Page)

Sticky: HOW-TO: Play Project 1999 on a Mac ( 1 2 3 ... Last Page)

Sticky: Running EQ under LINUX ( 1 2 3 ... Last Page)

Sticky: [Guide] EQ under wine (Fedora LINUX 14+ 32 or 64bit) ( 1 2 3)

Sticky: Multi/Dual/Quad-Core Issues ( 1 2 3 ... Last Page)

Sticky: EQ Lite Client Guide [Auto-Script or Manually] ( 1 2 3 ... Last Page)

I think when we get new people coming to this board they just skip through all the stickys and post their problem without reading through any of these. If we had just a few instead of this huge kersplat of threads some people might actually read through and get their problem solved without having to post.

If there's any admins interested in doing this let me know, I propose we do something like this:

Sticky: Help! My EQ won't work! -The FAQ, please read.

Sticky: EQEmuLauncher - FAQ ( 1 2 3)

Sticky: Crowdsourcing .path files (community project) ( 1 2)

and maybe one of the linux threads. Then, we changed the title of the FAQ to:

Sticky: EQ Tech FAQ and Helpful links - please read before posting

and I'll stick all of the previously sticky'd threads into the FAQ under a "helpful links and guides" section and index them with a table of contents if needed.

Are we interested in doing this? does anyone even think it would improve tech discussion and make information more readily available, or do we figure people will just keep ignoring the sticky's and post w/o reading anyway? let me know what you all think, and if any of the admins skim over this please chime in.

I really think it could help make things run a little more smoothly in here! (i hope)

Honestly the linux thread needs some cleaning up. The best way for Linux is to do a default wine install and then use the eqclient.ini to disable pertinent options (vertex shaders and a few others). That's so much simpler than trying to compile your own version of wine. The problem is that solution is buried in the middle of the Linux installation thread.

I'd put together a guide for that but i've just had so much going on irl i dont see it happening anytime in the near future. maybe someone could pick a project like this up? it doesn't seem like it would take too long.

We could then sticky that thread, or put it into the links.

It would also be possible to separate those two threads - have the main tech FAQ as well as a 'helpful links' thread both sticky'd, and still have a minimal amount of sticky'd threads. I really think anymore than ~4 and things just get far too cluttered and people start ignoring them.

Maybe a generic thread for P99 under non-windows OS? (Mac, Linux) I can do linux/ubuntu, but would need a volunteer for mac (or just port over the guide that already exists for Mac.

Stickies:
1) Tech Support FAQ (EQ Not Working)
2) Project1999 for non-Windows OSes
3) EQEmuLauncher Guide/FAQ
4+) CSR Community Initiatives (Ex.: Crowdsourcing *.path files)

Unless we'd like to initiate adding the non-windows P99 setup to the "Getting Started" guide in the Library forum. Then we could roll non-Windows Troubleshooting into the general Tech Support FAQ.

But the content from some of the stickies are AMAZING tech support resources: high res textures, UI updates, EQLite client, Duxa's installer, etc. Roll that stuff into the generic FAQ?

I like your idea better, although i know that makes some extra work for admins and they already have a lot on their plate, so maybe including the non-windows OS setup in the getting started guide could be added later, and we could just have it on tech support boards for now (maybe with a link included in the getting started guide for non windows people - that way its easy for them to find)

We can still keep everything nice and neat that way and also have all the information people need in one place. I'd definitely want to have the tech support faq be titled - "Tech Support FAQ and Helpful Links, Please read before posting" to hopefully catch people's eyes
