I missed out on the first thread, but if around $430 is your budget, you may want to look into something like this: http://slickdeals.net/f/6218928-Refu...or-430-Groupon

That AMD A10 will be more powerful than the i3 in that Toshiba - plus it will have double the HDD/RAM and a significantly better GPU (As part of the A10 package). It's a refurb, but will have a mfg. warranty. HP Envys have cheaped up lately, but this is still a lot of hardware for $430 IMO.

Dell Outlet is another great place to watch for sub-$500 laptops.

Everyone is going in the wrong direction. My next 'puter is definitely a desktop...had this HP laptop 3.5 years and its done well, but it blue screens on me, the battery doesn't charge anymore, amongst all the other usual "slowdown" stuff :/

Bar the battery (which obviously you can replace) desktops do the same shit too. Get slower and slower and shittier and shittier. Until that is, you reinstall the lot. You should try that on your laptop.

Oh and Dell outlet can be excellent. Got myself a half price i5 dual intel graphic/radeon gpu. You got to check at the right times though. They update the site twice a day at the same times and the really good shit will go fast.

Problem with laptops (or a lot of them at least) is that you can't customize and switch out graphics cards for what you'd prefer. The best stuff isn't made for laptops sadly...and the next PC I buy I want something high end [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Such a waste of money. Unless you do intense graphic design going highend is just forking money over to computer companies. You can spend less then 1k on computer that will run everything you want.

I got a lenovo y500 for 1k on sale. Dual 650m gforces cards, 16gigs of ram. Keep your eyes out. Rather than spending $500 on something that will only run minor stuff keep your eyes peeled. Check out Engadget.com's post...they will show where to get things for a good price every now and then.

*Oh and I did not get this laptop to just play p99 [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I'd rather punch myself on my private parts over and over again before using a Toshiba laptop.
