Default Advise to those who are not used to Classic EverQuest?

I figured I'd take the time before I went down to play my show to make a thread in accordance to new players that will be joining us on the project 1999 server.

A lot of people are confused about the questing system and the best way to level up or find quests that are "important".. Mainly players I've been trying to recruit.

I was hoping some of the veterans or others could inform me so I could inform them!

The general questions were..

1. I'm just starting out, and I have no idea where to go or what to do first? I explain to them to level up and do quests! They need more specifics.. I have even wondered myself about questing, but a lot of people say EQ was a lot of grinding and no questioning. Is this true?

2. Is there a better system to begin tradeskilling or general benefits of leveling at a low level? I don't know what to tell them to expect when starting.. I dunno if they like the idea of just killing bats for 5 hours to get level 4 :P

3. What's the best advice you can give the newcomers? What can you tell them to expect? What's the hardest hurdle to get over until it's insanely fun?
