Question About Spells ..

Hello,

Iīm a newcomer to this server (although I have played for 4 years in live and never experienced any problems), and I have found some Issues regarding spells. Note that I am running EQ with a interl dual core 2,4 Ghz, Ati Mobile Radeon 4250 512 MB RAM and WVista.

1.- When I cast a spell on Myself (Or somebody cast a spell on me) and I am on 1st person view (on which I usually play) I cant see the spell graphics around me or neither in my hands when I cast (like on live). Itīs bery anoying .. is there any solve to this?

2.- I have come also to the point that the spell level are not going equal to the spell graphics like it was on live (1, 22, 44), doing a quick search on these forums I noticed that you can see either the old graphics at your level but no spell graphics coming from your hands, or the new graphics (I think somebody posted they change at lvl 50), is there any solve already to this problem?

3.- In the Display settings, on the Particles section (lower right corner), for the best graphic visualization, what do I have to put in the Near Clip option? (Farthest or nearest) (for spell enviroment and player tabs)

4.- Also, I have found that Spirit of Wolf duration (35 min duration) And shield of thorns (1 min duration) is not like on live which I believe it was 30 and 5 min (Not sure), it is this normal?

Thanks
Looking forward to this new EQ experience !! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

After some tests and searchs in the forum I noticed that:

- If you rename or delete the spellsnew.eff or spellnew.edd files in your EQ folder you are able to se spells cast on you in first person view, and also, with the old spell progression!!

- The downside of this is you donīt see any spell particles coming from your hands when casting

So thats it

Default same issue

I might as well post here because aside from completely different PC components, I have the same issue.
Spell Effects cast on self do not appear in 1st person view.

I target self, cast heal, I see no spell effects but if I zoom out to 3rd person, there they are.

I can see the effects of other NPCS and Players, just never cast on self.

In 2 years, ( since original post ) has there been any solution other than the one provided?

Also, I /ooc this in game and it seems other people were experiencing the same issue.

As for settings, I have everything ( except FPS ) set to max.

Same here. Really bugs me, because it makes 1st person view not very attractive, even though I like to use it.
I guess since WoW many only use 3rd person view nowadays so the bugged 1st person view isnt noticed. But 3rd person is horribly bugged too when levitating or swimming.

Those 3rd person view bugs have killed me many times more than 1st person view.
