Default Research Project Help

Hello All,
So some friends and I are conducting a research study that looks at the impact of psychological factors on social interaction in virtual environments. We need people who play MMOs to take this survey. The survey takes about 30 minutes. You can click on the link provided and once you have completed the survey that is all that is needed. It is completely anonymous; you will not be contacted about your information. Feel free to pass on the link.

If you can help, we'd be grateful.

Is the fact that the survey is taken in a virtual environment going to be considered in your research? I mean, what if certain psychological factors due to virtual environments cause them to answer differently? You should probably do a research project on that too.

GL with ur study. But your psyche question kinda biased IMO. People will not answer truthfully to shit like "How many days this week did you feel worthless" they will answer what they want because they will feel like being profiled. I don't have a suggestion to improve that part. But theres plenty of sane people out there who are like... shit today sux... and move on with life, would probably answer 0 dishonestly.

@Orruar - We actually have looked at a number of psych factors in VE, there are links to articles on that website.

@runlvlzero - Thanks, we can use all the luck we can get. So far I have found people to be pretty truthful. The funny thing is we are not profiling but rather trying to figure out what psychological characteristics lead people to interact in different ways within VE. The long term purpose is to use the data to support the development of a game-based VE that can help kids with various emotional and behavioral disorders, hopefully keeping them out of the system.

Thats pretty damn cool. I figured this might be a prelude to some advanced game concept like that. Or WoW2.0 But as a study the results should be extremely interesting.

Were wow like features used because of the game's popularity?

@Ahldagor - correct. Also, in previous studies we recorded WoW gameplay and then assessed players. By using the same or similar language we can stay consistent across studies.

@Ahldagor - it's all good, that is why we keep track of that stuff

We still need at least 70 more MMO players, so anyone able to help would be appreciated.
