Wizard Epic Help ?

Hello people. After reading a few Wizard epic guides online, including wiki p1999, I have to say they are poorly made.

My mistake: I handed in the Mistletoe Powder to Kandin Firepot. I had done about half of the first note quest. I didn't bother completing it yet because on the guide it says:

( ) Take the note to Kandin Firepot, then
[ ] 1. Give him Cazic's Skin from CT to recieve Kandin's Bag.
[ ] 2. Give him Mistletoe Powder to obtain the Staff of Gabstik
[ ] 3. Give him back Kandin's Bag to get a new note.

Stupidly I assumed this was in a type of order and the CT skin was accompanied by the note.

I later spoke for a moment to someone who had the Staff of Gabstik ( the staff I was trying to get ) and he said he simply just got a friend to charm Kandin Firepot.

Question: What the hell am I supposed to do lol... is this a faction based quest ? Or do I NEED that note ? If so what does Kandin have to con ? He was apprehensive when I did this.

Hand him the note that the NPC gives you from halas, after that step you should be indifferent. I did the same thing I tried to turn in my powder too soon and lost it. Not sure if they will have the time to reimburse the item but I petitioned.
