Question Brother Balatin, Not a common spawn post 1/18 patch

http://web.archive.org/web/200207011....shtml?id=4509 "Common spawn at the undeaad city in dreadlands."

http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/npc.html?id=4509

"In terms of spawn rate, I killed the plaguebone skeleton on top of his spire twice before he spawned "

http://www.tessmage.com/AllaClone/sp...up.php?id=8720

NPCs composing that spawngroup :
Brother_Balatin (20%)
Brother_Balatin (20%)
Brother_Balatin (20%)
Brother_Balatin (20%)
plaguebone_skeleton (20%)

Brother Balatin is a common spawn in Dread Lands, with a PH that shares a spawn cycle of 6 minutes. Our wiki shows him as being a 50% chance to spawn. It's widely known about this NPC that he's just a few PH killed before a repop, and is generally a very easy thing to get.

Tonight I camped his spawn for four hours, killing a PH every 6 minutes, and saw nothing but PH repops.

Prior to the recent patch, I saw him spawn after 4 PH spawns. A common spawn shouldn't be taking 4 hours to not show once. Considering the latest patch did a lot of work with variances, I believe this may have inadvertently bugged this spawn and it is no longer a common spawn.

Thanks for looking into this.

Update: spawned at hour 5.

Apparently the spawn is still active, but I have serious doubt it's correctly flagged as common after the patch still.

as far as classic goes, I have no idea. I know I've seen him spawn after a few kills and also take hours to spawn. On p99 I've done monk epic + a RotWF and I have MQ'd probably 10 robes. I've always advocated using a fresh BroB to avoid MQ issues, and have seen mixed results. Seeing one guy say he went 2 PH's before BroB doesn't mean much; I've gone 90hours on pained soul, and i've heard of him spawning twice in one hour multiple times. rng can be a bitch. same goes for hasten/BroQ(?) and other 'common' but popular spawns. Also one of your links is modern day and the other is 2002, neither of which apply to this server really.

Took me about 3-4 hours to spawn him a month ago so it wasnt just this patch.

Alright, well if that is the case, then I wonder if the phrase common is truly misused in this context then. None of the links are broken for me above, and apologies if 2002 is too late for our timeline, I hastily found articles supporting what I experienced after doing the camp for far too long.. heh.

I've been sitting at his spawn again this morning out, so far for three hours he has spawned once, so definitely works. Just takes a long time.

Update: Balatin has spawned a few more times today.

I suppose my incident lastnight was just horribly bad luck.
