Whenever I start to feel sorry for myself I remember that there are countries out there with 5% literacy rates where people are born incredibly poor with zero opportunities to change their living situation.

By winning the birth lottery and being born in a country with public education and economic freedom you are pretty blessed, be grateful about what's good in your life instead of focusing on what's not great about it.

Also in my opinion college isn't right for everyone, or maybe it's just not right for you right now.

It's a hard reality to accept that it's just not the path for you. Plenty of other ways to make a comfortable living if you feel like it's making your life shitty.

Work hard in school so you have a better chance of doing what you want in life and getting away from your stressful environment. It sounds like your home is causing the depression.

Don't feel bad or beat yourself up more about it. This happens to other people too.

Life WILL get better. Perhaps even easier (if you work towards making it easier). It IS possible. I know that I felt totally hopeless when I was your age. If my adult self could travel back in time and tell my young self, this shit is fix-able-it-will-be-ok... wow... would have made things better.

Exercise helps immensely with stress. It will also help clear your mind and allow you to think things through. If you don't have access to a gym of any kind, try running or walking. Hell even if you do have access to a gym, running / walking are still great stress relievers

It sounds like you hit the jackpot on shitty parents, so getting out of that environment should be a priority. There's nothing wrong with taking time off of college to get a job and learn a skill that can make you some $$. People may complain about the economy and job market, but the truth is that if you're willing to work hard and take pride in your work, you'll do well. Being independent and self reliant can do wonders for your outlook on life. You can come back to finish college later if that's the way you want to go, but it's really not critical for many careers.

Talk to a psychologist. There are things you can do to move on and a psychologist can help. You can control your past, your parents, etc but educated you can control your future.
