Default New Shaman - LF Some Help

Good afternoon folks!

New Shaman here looking for any tips or advice to get my Barb up and running. I understand that Barb isn't the greatest race compared to trolls / ogres, but I enjoy the Braveheart look much better.

Will I have to make my way all the way back to the starting area to train and buy spells?

I am going to be duo'ing with another friend of mine who is going to start playing the game as well - Monk. I am hoping that this will make for a strong team when we cant find full groups.

Any advice people could offer would be great, I am currently working on gathering orc belts from Crushbone. Looking forward to getting back into the game again!

Thanks,
Spurs

Yeah, or pay an evil race to go shopping in Oggok/Grobb. If you have spare plat it helps to buy up a bunch of spells for your current level and later levels so you don't have to make as many trips. Also, the fastest way to get to Halas from elsewhere is to find a wizard who's level 57 or above and get them to port you to West Karana and then evacuate (the wizard spiral in WK is right next to the NK zone line, but the safe spot that evacuate takes you to is right next to the Qeynos Hills zone line, so it saves you a long run).

Monk/shaman is one of the premier duos in EverQuest. It's very solid.

Save up those belts and pads and sell them to other players, then use that money to buy spells. You can also buy equipment but the equipment you can afford with that kind of money isn't really going to make a difference if you're grouping (if you were soloing, I'd say invest in a decent weapon, but if you're grouping, you shouldn't be meleeing).

Thank for the reply Estu, I appreciate the advice - I wouldn't have thought about asking an evil race to pick spells up for me, and especially getting the evac to save some time if I made the long run back myself.

My guess is, me and my Monk friend will be going together more often than grouping, so I may end up trying to invest in a decent weapon and shield. Someone gave me some platinum last night and we were able to get an HP ring for each of us to have. The additional 55HP for each of us should be a huge help at this level.

Sorry if I'm off topic.
I made one when I came to this serv a few months ago and you should know this server is overcrowded with shamans.
You should totally play what you enjoy, but be warned you will have very rough competition for spells and items if you get to high levels.
You can start saving veeeeery early for torpor, and consider yourself lucky if you manage to negotiate the price down to 80k.
