Question Wine/Linux Help Needed

I'm really stumped on how to get EQ working under Linux. I got the game installed (and patched with the files from project1999.com) just fine. However, when I run EverQuest.exe I immediately get a "Patching EverQuest" dialog which stays on "Connecting..." for awhile until I eventually get a "Could not establish a connection." message.

I've tried running the command by itself, and I tried using the options from the guide in this forum:

env WINEPREFIX="/home/me/.wine" taskset -c 0 padsp wine /home/me/drive_c/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/Sony/EverQuest/EverQuest.exe patchme

I've also tried changing my OS in wincefg, but that didn't help either.

If I instead run eqgame.exe by itself I get told to run EverQuest.exe.

If I run eqame.exe patchme then I get a different error: "Error in your GUI XML files. Check UIErrors.txt." I tried replacing uifiles/default as suggested by element08 (here: http://www.project1999.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=133421) but it didn't help.

Does anyone have any idea how what I can do to fix my EQ installation?
