wont let me edit eq shortcut

when trying to install p99, it said i'm supposed to make a shortcut for eqgame.exe, then edit shortcut to say "C:/EverQuest Red99/eqgame.exe" patchme . every time i do it says "target path is not valid. make sure path and file name are correct
