Miscellaneous: I cant connect to the server today

I can't connect to the server today. I played yesterday for the first time several times off and on and it worked fine, but today it's telling me an unknown error occurred when I click play everquest or the button below it (classic 99 progression server; the server name).

Ok, I just logged in, but had to use quick connect. For some reason it took a really long time to load the charachter selection though.
