Dont have a website to confirm, but was wondering if spiders and beetles and such should be considered animals?

Im a druid and have just recently started charming. Shiverbacks in PoFear work wonderfully and do work. My only question is that i remember spiders and such being considered animals and thus charmable. Was wondering because i'd love to charm Lava Duct Crawlers in Sol B.
