Default Gnoll Hide Lariat - Pet Use

My pet seems to sometime proc the lariat and sometimes I receive the message that "your pet's will is insufficient to command its weapon".

Situation:

Killing Gnolls @ spires in SK, pet has 2x Gnoll Hide Lariat equipped.

I receive no message when the proc works but the mob stops moving.

I do receive the "insufficient will" message on failures.

(Currently happening as of this post)

What level was your pet? Could be different levels of your pets not being high enough level to proc. Or was this happening with one pet?

Sometimes it even happens when the pet is the appropriate level - my level 10+ enchanter pets would give me the stupid "will is insufficient" message with dagger of dropping even though they were the correct level.

The successful procs/insufficient will messages were happening with the same pet. I answered his petition and suggested he post here.

As a possibly related update, I've noticed that once in a blue moon my skele pets seem to be lifetapping their targets. I am a SK (level 28 now), and IIRC they did not have an innate lifetap until later in the game.

Edit: FWIW, I know they are lifetapping because they issue the "x smiles at %t" emote, not because I've noticed a change in the HP.

This has happened to me as well. I had a pet that would proc lariats but would also get insufficient will.

Have had this issue too when i level'ed in SK.

Just like Uthgaard said, it happens with same pet. one moment it procs, 10 sec. later you get the insufficient will message.

For me it seems like the system is coded to do some kind of lvl or dmg check every time the pet gets a proc from it's weapons, and sometimes it gets a value that makes the system believe the pet is too low lvl for the wep. to proc.
