![]() Hello all!
A druid mate of mine is thinking about selling his Manastone since he's not very impressed by it. With Kunark on the horizon, there won't be much use for them anyhow (= dropping price)? I know of the whole bind in any zone, port out, stone up, gate back charade, but it seems to be a lot of work. Is it even worth it? On the other hand.. I don't know anything about nonraid buyable caster loot from Kunark or stuff that would be hard to camp (played a melee on live myself) besides that Fungi staff which will be perma camped by poopers anyhow. I've told him to keep it for now, but what do I know.. Any suggestions? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

![]() I don't know how much mana you gain from doing the port trick. It would have to be ridiculously better for me to do that much work every time.

![]() If you don't like it, sell it. Just afk to med up between kites.

![]() If he's worried about the price, I think it's safe to say that it'll rise rather than drop, especially in the long run. It might go down just a little in the first half of Kunark, but it will also become increasingly rare as time goes on, and eventually it will become one of those items you see for sale once a month at 300k.
It certainly does become less useful, but it's still nice to have around, especially on a druid who can port back to use it when soloing. I wouldn't want them to do it while grouped in a dungeon or something; it works in theory, but these stories of a druid and cleric porting out to manastone up and then gating back? Sounds like a recipe for letting the rest of the group wipe while they're gone. I'd rather that they med up the old-fashioned way if they were in my group. Any content intensive enough to make a healer consider doing that is the kind of content where I don't want the healer to disappear for minutes at a time. Also, consider what he's giving up: a status symbol and situationally useful tool that no longer drops. What's he gonna buy? GEBs and shit like that? Seems stupid. Maybe if it was a rubicite breastplate which is entirely replacable in Kunark. Nothing replaces manastone, even though its uses become limited.

I have only ever used one on a cleric, but I'm sure there are some druids here who could tell you the overall usefulness. My guess is that it helps while quad-kiting after you get your best regen. Just figure out the click/regen ratio that maximizes mana return while keeping your health at a safe level.

![]() It is even useful to epic wizards, believe it or not... or wizard healer duo combos. Unless your zoning speeds are horrifically slow, you will get more kills with manastone than without.

![]() Not only is the port trick efficient, You dont "have" to level in kunark as a druid. Believe me when I say that doing the first 3-4 levels on the original continents with a manastone is MUCH more efficient than kunark leveling by far. A good group doing bats and bugs in Sol B or a druid Quadding things with a manastone is pretty quick and you can get a few good levels out of old world content.
If you group with a cleric, get some portage and both of you manastone down, and the cleric will CH while you both have chloro on, then both gate back to the group. Extremely, extremely efficient.

![]() It isn't a matter of whether it is better to have it or not...it is ALWAYS better to have it, even if it isn't useful much of the time.
The question was whether to sell it. I wouldn't sell it. If you have a mana stone now you should tuck that little gem away in the bank if you find it less than useful. In a year it will be worth 3 times what it is worth now. that is a solid investment. my advice: hold.

![]() This is all sound advice, but I don't think you are aiming high enough. Does your friend want a measely 80k now? Or even 300k later? It's chump change, and he'll spend it without anyone noticing while he fades into obscurity. However, you can't put a price on a legend. Tell him to sell it to me for 300 platinum. I guarantee he will be remembered forever on this server or he can have it back. It's the bold choice, do it!
