When all hope is seemed to be lost during the big fight, Nick Fury shows up out of nowhere with reinforcements and War Machine. Jarvis gets turned into a flying robot thing with a cape and can wield Mjolnir.

Ultron is formed from Loki's scepter, because the gem holds a Jarvis-like sentience within it, but stronger. It's one of the 6 relics Thor is looking for.

The mid-credits scene shows Thanos and the Infinite gauntlet.
