![]() The best people on P99 are the new starters without a doubt. I spent 30 minutes in West Freeport tonight at the gate, and some time briefly in Paineel near the zone out to Toxxulia.
In that time I had a few great conversations with people keen to tell their story about having just found the server, what they played on live, how excited they are to experience classic EverQuest again. One player said how much slower the XP was compared to the live servers currently. I tried to convert a level 3 paladin in Freeport to reroll a SK (while on my necro) and he stated how great shadow knights were, that he had a dark elf SK back on live and we got talking about that (I've got one here). I bound a few people at the gate, they all tried to offer 5gp, 2pp or whatever they could. I was just there waiting for someone to come back from LD. In summary, we have a great community here... I think those of us that have been here for months/years should reconnect with new players as often as possible. They'll remind you that 1999 EQ was a great place to be, and amid all the camp lawyering, petitioning and the raid scene as it is I think sometimes we need to wake up to that and keep the community a nice place to play. Yes, someone that plays on the red server just said that.

![]() Be kind to the new guys - both grouping and raiding. Not everyone here has been on p99 for 3+ years working on their 7th alt. They'll be in for a lot of frustration when they hit the raid scene. For the long term health of the server it's the new joiners that will keep p99 alive for years to come.
Competitive guilds need to keep this in mind as well. When a new guild is in a zone raiding something, just because you CAN leapfrog them and FTE a mob doesn't mean you should or that it's in your best interests to do so. The guys new to the raid scene are important to the health of the server. This situation may or may not have happened recently - and it sucks.

![]() I'll generally collect weapons most people consider trash (Silver Swiftblade, 11/24 int caster staffs) and hand them out in newbie zones.
I don't think most of these people continue playing though because I've only run into 1 of them who made it beyond lvl 10. Probably why a lot of people on the server don't do this kind of stuff generally.

![]() This makes me wanna go raid Dalnir for newbie loot again.
When I was in Harbingers of Thule I'd go clear Dalnir on my Shaman. Then head to FoB and shout about my successful raid against the Kly. Spoils of the raid to be given away along with buffs at the newb ramp. It was a lotta fun.
