![]() So I have a small problem. When I log completely out of the game, the eqgame.exe executable doesn't end. It remains in my task manager list. This isn't a huge problem, because I can just kill it with process explorer/task manager, but sometimes I forget to do so. Amusingly, my Raptr/Gaming Evolved client seems to think I've played thousands of hours of EQ because of it. :-P
My main worry is that I might forget to end it, and try to log back in, with the second executable still running. I'm not sure how they track boxing around here, but I don't want to get in trouble for something stupid like this. I don't use any special programs to run the game, I just run it regular in window'ed mode. I don't even use the /set affinity thing either, as I don't really get any framerate hits except for the EC tunnel during peak hours. I run Windows 7 64 bit. Only thing I could think that might be causing it would be issues with registry entries, as I moved my whole install recently to an AMD RamDrive, so I can zone faster. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thank you.

![]() Confirmed this happens on my other computer as well. So I figure it might have something to do with the "copy --> paste" of the installation I am using. I can somewhat mitigate the issue by selecting the compatibility settings of "Disable Desktop Composition" and "Disable Visual Themes" which at least serves to remind me that it is still running in the background.
I'll dig out my Titanium disks again and see if that helps.

![]() Copy/paste for the files is fine. Doubt its registry. You're also pretty unlikely to get in trouble for duo boxing - the GMs dont just brainlessly ban people.
Could try running as administrator or checking ../Logs/dbg.txt for clues

![]() It shouldn't be registry entries. Afaik EQ functions just fine without them, and I've ran EQ off a copy+pasted clone install for years without issues.

![]() Actually, whatever happened in this last patch/server restart seems to have cleared it up. Eqgame.exe finally exits properly. /boggle
I have no idea. | ||

![]() Eh, I spoke too soon. Now it just seems to happen sporadically instead of all the time. Ran it as administrator, and even tried running it in Windows XP mode. Still happens from time to time. Guess I'll keep digging.

![]() When I log out on my laptop, the game crashes every time. I don't get it but the exe isn't in the list of processes for me.

![]() Write a quick bat file on your desktop with:
taskkill /F /IM eqgame.exe That should help. Click that puppy really fast after exiting the game.

![]() Does running this game in Windows XP compatibility mode (or other Windows OS compatibility modes) provide any benefit?
