Default Grim Aura and Dispell

Does Grim aura have some weird extra counter to dispell? at least 3 times now I have watched a dispell mob dispell buffs below grim aura but not grim aura itself.

Make that four times, dispells are landing below grim aura but not taking grim aura off.

You know, I just noticed this last night too, where it skipped my top slotted grim aura and ate my regrowth. I thought it was weird since mob dispel always correctly ate my spyglass buff. Will have to check more later.

This has been happening since the forced velious beta where they significantly changed how dispells work. Supposedly the dispell counters were added/fixed, but so far the order that spells are removed remains mysterious to me.

http://www.project1999.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=173108 There are a few interesting things in that Patch that I think apply to your statement. I think it is the "nerf" you are referring to among others. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

buffs have spell level

dispels have dispel level

lower level dispels tend to skip over certain buffs. there's a reason bracer of the hidden is so valuable~

This comment doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Bracer of the hidden is so valuable because it's an instant cast see invis for classes that don't get the spell. See invis is, at it's earliest, a level 4 spell. This is the same for grim aura.

Because see invis is incredibly powerful and required on a non pvp server?

i imagine it works something like this
Spell has counter level x
Dispel has dispel level y which means it dispels y number of spell counters

first check is to see if the dispel can affect slot 1, ie is slot one the type of spell the dispel works against

second check is to determine if the dispell works at all on the spell in slot 1 ie the resist check or check for successfully landing the spell

third check compares number of counters stripped vs total counters for a spell in slot 1
if number stripped is more than total counters for the slot the buff goes away, if not it checks slot 2, then 3, etc until all debuff counters are used up or until all spell slots successfully pass check #2

this is just a guess
