Default Question about Bard kiting...

So right now I'm lvl 4 and I'm learning how to kite. I got buffed SoW so I could escape the mobs and I click on Chords of Dissonance to start the kite. The first time kiting I pulled about 20-25 mobs and killed them all down in a matter of minutes only to look at my exp bar and it hadn't even budged... I thought... Maybe I need to land a hit on the mob first and then I can start the kite to get the exp... Nope. WTH am I doing wrong here??

I noticed something similar at that level, especially when you only pull level 1 mobs in your kite at level 4 (as noted above).

Even at 13, if I get a pretty large pull (at least I feel it's large) in NK of wisps and bears, I still barely get a little over a yellow of exp.

Imagine it gets better 18+ when you can do much more massive pulls.

Yeah, you need really large trains to get the huge exp hits.

As you level what you are going to find most zones have like 3 level ranges of mobs. So as you kite you will have mobs die in waves as the lower levels have alot less HP. The first two waves get you some exp but it's the high level mobs that really move the bar. Sub 18, the zones are less variable in mob level. You may get good exp when you first go there and the mobs are all red or yellow or white but quickly it will get bad.

On that topic, when you go to higher zones, never zone off your high level mobs so you can loot. If they are dieing really slow just take them with you back into the field to pick up the next swarm. It might take you a few rounds to see them start dieing off but the exp boost from them makes it worth forgoing the loot of the lower mobs you kill quickly.
