Default New to p99

Hi,

I just joined project 1999 about a month ago. I've never played everquest before. It looks like it's alot of fun though. I put in an ip exemption so that my friend and I can play together. I read that it can take awhile to get approved. However, last night I talked to a person who had their request approved the next day. I posted my request on 09-20-2015. Haven't seen any responses or updates since then.

Hi there! Welcome to the best part of EQ! If you have any questions feel free to message me in game. IP- exemptions can take as long as 2 months unfortunately. It's up to the admins to approve your request and it can take time, based on what else they have going on. What got you interested in trying EQ?

Honestly, My boyfriend suggested it to me and I just tried it out when he had me play it. I haven't played a game of this type ever and I just enjoy the way the game is setup overall and just its fun in general if you have never played a game like this. I tried world of warcraft and quit within ten minutes its just nothing like everquest you could say. So I just really need this IP exemption soon.

Having played both, I'd say this is a load of hooey. If he/she's not interested in raiding/end game, the blue server is a great place to play.

Red's got it's share of nice people as well, but has a higher per capita of knuckleheads IMO.

I don't think that's true ^^ The ones we do have just have a server wide mode of communication and feel compelled to use it. Most players I've actually encountered are not knuckleheads. It may also be that OOC and the more vocal knuckleheads have rendered common tongue is something like Trollish ^^ making them appear more numerous than they are ^^

Ok this is great. We were approved today for the ip exemption. I've never actually boxed before so I'm just trying to make sure I understand what we are not allowed to do.

I understand that you can't be one person using 2 characters at a time, like for example to transfer some items or to do a port. That makes sense. The only part that I'm not clear on, is the /follow command.

It's definitely boxing if someone has another character on /follow while they are killing mobs to get them experience. Sure.

Ok, but is it boxing if 2 people are playing together and one of them uses the /follow command for 5 minutes while the other gets a snack? You know, just to run to a spot where they plan on starting a group?

Just trying to make sure I understand this because we absolutely don't wanna break any rules.

They will treat this as 2-boxing if they spot it because they're understaffed and getting irrefutable proof that people aren't boxing is difficult and time-consuming when there's only about 1 guide per 200 people (rough estimate), and from what I can tell only 1 guide has fully devoted his time to watching for boxers.
