Default Family Law

I am looking for a someone knowledgeable in Family Law.

I have a divorce and child custody in process that a family law paralegal has been helping me with. I have Temporary full custody of my son because his mother is a meth head. The problem is that the guy that I have helping me will no longer return my calls. I just need to know what I have to do to finish the prossess and get a court date to finally set the visitation and custody in stone so We can get on with life.

please sent me a PM and I can get in touch to discuss what my options may be.

Thank you so much in advance!

ps I have already given this guy cash up front but a year plus later I am still stalled. I am a single father trying to raise my boy.

You need a lawyer imo. A paralegal can't represent you in court, and it sounds like he isn't helping that much anyways. Even if you are still getting along with your ex-wife, and can talk and negotiate with her, you need someone who understands the process and can advocate for you.

Heya - you don't say what jurisdiction you're in but I agree that a lawyer is a really good idea... if it's just one court date to get settled it shouldn't be really expensive, and will be MUCH less than if you get the wrong decision and have to hire one to fight it back to where you want it... good luck, we're pulling for you!

Regards,
Mg

I agree. don't know what state you are in but definitely get a lawyer. If you have financial issues affording a lawyer you may want to check with legal aid in your state. I can tell you for a fact that if you live in Tennessee - unless you have evidence that you are a physically abused spouse - not to bother. I don't know what kind of budget cuts legal aid has gone thru in other states.

I am going through a similar thing with my kids father. If I were you i would totally push for sole legal and physical custody and only supervised visitation for her. If you can prove that she is a meth head i think it should be a slam dunk. Dunno though.

Sadly I do not know much family law. What I know is mostly about Tennessee law. For instance: I can't file in MY county - i have to file 200 miles away in HIS county because that's how TN divorce code is written.

Good luck. If you want to talk or vent or whatever - feel free to PM me or complain in game to me. happy to listen.

Legal Aid works pro bono or very very VERY cheap...[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] It's an actual separate office - like public defenders for criminals.

But I understand what you mean [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
