Hi,
I've been playing before just to try this out and today I decided to give it a go again. I had a backup from the last time I played. So I just copied from my backup to my computer and launched the game. Problem is that I cannot enter any letters in the name/password fields, only numbers! I know there's nothing wrong with my keyboard since I can type letters in notepad while the login screen is up. I've tried running the game with XP SP3 compability and disabled themes/composition just to see if that was giving trouble. Also tried deleting "eqlsPlayerData.ini". Even tried switching from swedish keyboard layout to english. Oh yeah, happy new year! *Update* I had to resort to the onscreen-keyboard to be able to login, LOL! *Update 2* Seems like it has nothing to do with numbers or letters. Instead, it's a certain set of keys that do not work. Numpad works fine. Comma, dot, and also the keys left of ENTER works (on my keyboard that would be å, ä, ö, ¨, '). I noticed a file called "keyboard.txt" in the games root folder. Deleting this file would not help either. The keys are not working when entering the game with a character as well. I have searched the forum for other posts. Most seem to have a remote device to control their media center. Deleting this device would fix the problem. I do however not use any such device. I have only "HID keyboard device" under keyboard in the device manager. And I have tried deleting these devices anyway just to be sure. Did not help! *Update 3* Using WinEQ2 and changing "locale" to German in WinEQ2 options solves the problem with typing in the login screen. Not sure if any other locale than German works. However, as soon as I have clicked login and loaded everything (right before the character selection screen pops up) I get kicked out to the login screen again... *Update 4* I can type while holding the WIN-key. *Update 5* Problem is solved. I had to disable my antivirus software. I use Webroot SecureAnywhere v8.0.1.44. I haven't found a setting which allows me to run the antivirus and EQ at the same time with keyboard functionality. So, for now I have to shut it down completely. *Update 6* We have identified the issue that is causing the keyboard problems in Everquest and have submitted this to our development team so it can be resolved. At the moment we do not have an ETA as to when you can expect to have this resolved, and unfortunately the only work around is to disable the program while you are playing Everquest. We will update you once we have any additional information. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Thank you, Webroot Support Team | ||
